Challenging the status quo

Modern world needs modern solutions. A corrupt world needs anti-corruption as much as a scalp needing a shampoo.  While reading American and British history from 1800-1947, what I could understand is that India in 2026 is having most of those challenges which took others half a century to solve. For e.g., governments working on bribe to give contracts and large organisations encouraging it to stay in business. Government servants short selling the stocks of corporates which they would first approve and allow to grow multi-fold and then revoking approvals/licenses or proving issues and then short selling the stocks in market. Gold standard removed so governments can sell bonds which is a future promise and remove pegging on a real asset which allows them to keep adding more currency without any reserves of a real hard asset.  The wages are low when a new industry starts and then it grows as expertise grows and needs employees with higher skills. Later they bring automation and ...

Investing Today versus Yesterday

India is a developing country and the ambition in our youth to have a crore in their bank is also developing in same pace. Wealth of India and Indians is a well-known phenomenon in this world. We were once considered the richest land. Even now we have few wealthy people who can give tough competition to other rich men around the planet. Indians grow up understanding and tagging wealth to gold and property. Most of the current generation had seen a struggling prior generation and/or heard of previous generations working hard to earn wealth. Most of the Indians didn't have housing in earlier generations and the ones who had been the landlords often lending money and renting property to the larger masses. This practice had led to our ancestors often linking richness to having property for rent.  Our rich dad poor dad preaches us to have assets which are earning bucks for us versus sitting idle and shut which links to having rented property. We often overlook the fact that when is buyi...

What’s real in real estate?

A dream house is a dream that most of the people currently living on Planet Earth carries. We grow up seeing how our parents put together all their life’s earnings or a significant portion of it in making a house. Mankind takes this dream of having their own separate shelters wherever they are. The word settling has been closely associated with having your own house. People feel life is well settled once a house is acquired. Remember our forefathers would have started from sharing a cave together with others, a tree shed with others, a large abode with extended and joint families, a house boat with others wherever they were thousands of years ago. As we disintegrated and got more nuclear our shelter needs continued to grow and reach an ever granular need of one house for each family to multiple houses per family. The society had tagged respect to the amount of property one holds and often believe that is the show of wealth that determines one’s value among the peers. In 2024, we ...

Middle Berth Conundrum

Unlike football field the middle portion of the berth in Indian trains are not the favorite piece for the travellers but it does contribute in orchestrating the drama in a train journey.  When I entered the train 5mins before the journey started, little did I know about the fun waiting for me. I had to rush from office to get home, grab my things and get into the metro station. No appreciation is ever enough when we talk about the metro trains which are also feeders for the long distance train stations which was my first destination. I just can’t stop admiring how metro flies above the normal roads on those metal tracks like a king when the whole city is stuck in traffic going nowhere. Metro keeps gliding carrying a big chunk of office goers back to their little abode across the town. I didn’t want to miss my train back home and was continuously running various complicated algorithms on my mind based on various time sensitive parameters on how to make it on time. Long story short w...

Why do we get stress?

Four in every ten people we meet in this world are expected to be stressed. Many times we don’t realize that one of our dear one is in that four too. Think about ten people you met today, can you name the ones you suspect to be stressed? Maybe not, as most of us had mastered the art of masking the stress and projecting a sparkling version of ourselves to the outside world. Reality is that there is nothing to be ashamed of being stressed instead we need to cultivate a society where it is spoken out loud and we look after each other to ensure stress gets the treatment it deserves by getting it busted!  We are always in look out for stress busters and keen to adapt famous methods around us. But why do we get stressed? For every individual it is different, as unique as we are with our dna, the types and variety of stress inducers are also different. Many of us are stressed because of our job commitments or rather expectations. Many times we set these expectations unknowingly, by overco...

Stress a by-product of life

Stress is a by-product of human life when facing situations or conditions beyond our natural habitat. We face it everywhere around us whenever we are challenged in ways which are irregular. We are used to a template or pattern of life and life events, any routes which are not mapped in otherwise routine life of ours guarantees a minimum stress level. That is the easiest way to put forth the concept of stress. The body reacts to stress causing chemical changes which reflects in the form of blood pressure, heart rate, sugar levels and many unknown ways which great men of scientific knowledge are still learning about. Stress which is caused by pressure can also be negative or positive. None of us are used to associating pressure as positive as in today’s world stress had become synonymous to negative pressure. We can be stressed with our work demands, overwhelming family commitments, challenging personal goals, unattainable financial backlogs and ever-increasing societal expectations to l...

Invest with Discipline - SIP

Guys it has been long time since I wrote something. This time I thought of sharing my views on SIP(Systematic Investment Plan) into mutual funds. There are better ways of making quick bucks. But lets devote the whole blog to SIP. There are many of my friends who had invested into markets using the Mutual Funds just because of my advice. I would like to share my experience with mutual funds. Why should we invest in mutual fund and not directly to stock market? This can always be debated since on my blog on stock market I would tell learn to manage your money. But here I would tell you that lets leave it to experts. Same as when you need legal advice and assistance you look for lawyers, Doctors for medicine...to be precise..we always believe in experts...then why to take risk? Do you think they will leave their credibility at stake thinking its somebody elses money? Never...this is their job and will do their best. The risk of investing through mutual fund has lot of benefits: 1. It di...

Up, Up and Away!

Not sure whether we can call it as post-covid yet or new world for that matter. Maybe current times would be a good start. The corporate world had frozen the travels for a while and the official ones had become a rarity. The taxi to pick me up came right on time as expected, triggering the start of an official trip. As usual I had managed to pack more than required for a one day trip, almost competent for a week. A morning drive to Bangalore airport was very relaxing and had a meditating effect. This is an unspoken local secret, to be experienced only if you manage to travel before the traffic settles otherwise notorious Bangalore roads.  Before we get into the adventure, you need to be mindful about the not so exciting previous night. Indigo had promptly informed to do an online check-in and generate the boarding pass which I obliged without any challenge. However I assumed it is to avoid queueing in the airport, also for a fast drop out of baggage and I was proved right by ...
There are innumerous topics a school teaches, subjects a child can pick and even kids can become programming wizards sitting at home now. But how many schools or teachers are ready to teach a kid how to live? What is required in this country to be a responsible citizen? Can we have one such school or college which teaches how to behave in a community?, how to be a socially responsible citizen?, how to love and respect all alike? And above all without mixing religion to it! Such a system can add value to the future generations to make them less money minded but more people minded. Nothing can be undone now and we are a result of factory ready workhorse as a by product of industrial revolution and world war led education system.

Welcome home $$$$

From the world of "work is worship!" and "quality is the pride of workmanship", to all I want is $$$$. This has been quite a transformation that our little world had gone through ever since the uninvited arrival of COVID-19 pandemic.  I can imagine many faces that is already covered with frown reading my above statement. Often getting mistaken as judgmental or too eager to deduce something without concrete facts laid out. How much ever I would like not to disappoint you, I am afraid I might end up doing the thoroughly anticipated act of disappointing you.  What do we need to build a career? Is it a combination of money, position, role, consistent growth, vision, mentoring and future prospects? Or just money? The world has come to a state where we believe its just money that matters and rest all will come along with that. We have learned innumerous moral stories which teaches us what is need and how different it is with greed.  As we grew older we have also learned t...

Mind, Thought and so called Life

Life at some point brings back to us the flashes of mistakes we did. The day those starts haunting you, you will start seeing you as an antagonist against the protagonist, that you had been conveniently playing in the lives around you. A crushed dream, a broken heart, a swollen bone, a happy moment, a lost comrade, it all becomes stories at some point in life. Is that the point which brings back the flashes of mistakes we did? A human life in this planet Earth where most of my readers are from is becoming very predictable with a life starting with studies to jobs to marriage/property/assets to kids to grandkids to EOL(End Of Life). Most of us wants to be alive to continue one stage of this life and reach the next. What we often miss in the grand plan is what most project plans include without doubt a retrospective. How many of us can face us in this retrospective meeting with our own souls or conscious mind? Mostly none! We all rebel in our teenage and dream of being different,...

A morning to remember

That day unlike any other day had its evident  strangeness from the time I opened my eyes. The sun was reluctant to come out and wish early beings their good morning. The radio jockey had reached his station late than usual which led to prolonged bhakti songs. As expected Indian railways ran all their morning trains more late than their previous best. Newspaper had not arrived as for the  thunderous showers that Bangalore city received the entire night. The rain itself was unwelcome and erratic presenting itself on a freezer chilled winter night. Our house maid was surprisingly early as some other patrons were out of town. And above all my son was awake before me. I should have read the signs but as a stock market analyst, I was only trained to read the pattern post-facto.  My own financial consulting company had just started to take baby steps along with my one year old son. I was the proud dad watching them move their tiny feet together with grit. The indexes had not sh...
Are we thinking enough? Thinking is what most of us can ever do considering action being a premium commodity. Role of opposition parties are always to oppose and provide healthy criticism to the ruling parties in most of the democracies around the world. Isn't it time to think of some additional responsibilities to the opposition parties? Are we always the opposition party when it comes to our country whoever rules us. Be it our favorite political party or a dictator? At times we have to accept that the very nature of us earth citizens are to oppose.
How it begins and how it ends is verifiable in all the beings of this planet. Many a seed is sowed into the womb of this earth with it. The journey starts in the pair and beyond despair for the need to defeat the death before it arrives looking for us. The care that is given to each planted seed is yon comparison. The mother earth nourishes it with its life and works on ensuring that it sees the sun when time arises. All the pabulum is given wishing for a strong start the moment it sets foot in this ground and nothing short that humans do to each of their offspring.   The moment an embryo is formed the rich n affluent and poor and destitute

Marvel Comic Hero to Real life Zero

Save Planet Earth The favorite caption of this decade - 'Go green. We are all dutiful citizens working hard to save this planet. We all feel like Marvel comic hero when we do cycling a day, switch to jute bags from plastic bags and many more such disaster averting daring fights to convince our brain. What are we really saving? Are we all tiny organisms of this planet good enough to save Earth? We might have bought into the idea of every drop counts but applying in the wrong context without knowing the relevance. Even though we are taught that mother Earth is ever caring, ever accommodating and always forgiving as our own dear moms, reality is we know Earth churns up its own tsunamis, volcanos and storms while melting the ice in love. We do know that this self purifying work by our own mother Earth can eradicate the egoistic, control laundering humanity from the planet. We are in reality afraid that smarter and deserving organisms will thrive if Earth takes care of itself which we ...

Can it be the new world?

An annual vacation was long due and almost left out in 2019 due to the busy schedule. The frequent visits planned to hometown also hit a pause as exams closed in. The travel group had zeroed in on an all terrain Malaysian trip covering the jungles to beaches to cities to hamlets by April end post. This was after a long deliberation which got us all exhausted. The MBA exam dates were pushed from then to unknown as university had its own battle. As the Malaysian trip was getting closer, out of nowhere the university declared that the exam will be conducted in Sikkim in the university campus. Finally a travel to Sikkim via Bagdogra and Siliguri to Rangpo was inevitable and saw me staying in university hostel and living the real student life once again. While no sanitizers were available anywhere throughout my journey, I had stocked enough considering that villain who was troubling some neighboring countries by then. The lazy me had scheduled single exam a day to enjoy the exams, g...
