Every afternoon brought the voice of Yesudas alive in the neighbourhood. This was a favorite pass time for the whole village. Men who go to the fields and women ruling over the houses alike used to wait in almost straight lines near the large canal which carries water to the farm lands where these water met the fertile soil of Kerala, for the sounds from the only Radio in town. The Murphy radio brought by the British sahibs to India stayed back and found new home when they returned to their homelands. This radio famously called Murphy chettan was gifted to the current owner by his British boss when he took the steamer back to his roots. The need for working the land to make it available to build housing for families had been a never ending phenomenon in this part of the world. With the growth of population comes the need for more and more houses which becomes homes. I always thought maybe it was all forests and undiscovered land across the world. Later we discovered some and some we worked out deforestation based on the needs of the community. While all this was getting done, the societies grew to communities to nations with boundaries marking their ownership.  We had been fascinated with the site visits of aliens for time eternal. We have heard stories, conspiracies, witness accounts and dreams of various fellow earth civilians about the UFOs and the antenna hoisted heads for a while. The dusk had its charm in the dim moonlight, lighting the streets of the little hamlet where we were living for a generation. The village had not witnessed the neon lamps shining for decade and now the solar powered lamps had given up sooner than before connecting the power cables to them. The corporate world had frozen the travels for a while and the official ones had become a rarity. The taxi to pick me up came right on time as expected, triggering the start of an official trip.
